CPHC Mobile Primary Health Care Unit

The CPHC Community Family Health Team Mobile Service is a 30' x 10' RV that has been retrofitted with a fully equipped examination and treatment room. The unit is staffed by a Nurse Practiitoner; a Program Assistant and a Driver.
The Nurse Practitioner provides primary care to clients within her scope as set out by the College of Nurses of Ontario
A visit to the mobile unit and the nurse practitioner can include:
- Diagnosis and treatment of common health concerns (eg. ear, throat and bladder infections);
- Screening and monitoring of chronic disease such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, chronic obstructive lung disease, athritis and asthma;
- Routine prenatal and postnatal care; well baby care and children's exams;
- Immunizations;
- Blood testing;
- Ordering of diagnostic tests, such as blood work, x-rays, ultrasounds and mammograms;
- Referrals to family physicians, specialists and other health care professionals;
- Prescriptions for some medications (not narcotics);
- Health teaching and wellness counseling;
- Developing strategies and lifestyle modifications to manage your health.
